Category: Let's talk

Post 1 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 14:32:56

are you at all worried about the future of this site?

riecently i've noticed this place has been quieter than usual and when someone comes on they don't talk as much.

so, will we have a zone for much longer?

and my other question to you, do we need to do something to bring people back?

Post 2 by mysticrain (Art is born of the observation and investigation of nature.) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 15:17:15

Well, I know that I'm on the zone everyday. I haven't been talking for a while now via the quick notes, but I still play the games and post on the boards.

Post 3 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 15:37:43

The Zone has grown thus far almost totally by word of mouth. The best way of attracting new members is to tell your friends about us. Please do this in a non-spammy sort of way.

Post 4 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 15:48:41

Well I believe some people aren't as talkative like they use to be is because of the drama and some I know have left because of it or go into hiding in the private quicknote world. I personally don't mind the drama, it somewhat gives this site some spice to say the least and it's always interesting to watch unless your involved, which I've been several times. Not going to lie about that. I guess if the drama ceased then maybe people will quit hiding and/or come back to the Zone join us. However I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Post 5 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 16:38:07

I don't think the zone is in any danger. New people keep joining, and just because they don't feel like getting involved in the stupid zone drama via public quicknotes, doesn't mean they can't enjoy themselves on the zone. I often turn publics off when I am not in the mood to chat with a bunch of people at once or simply don't like the tone of the public QN conversation. But I can still enjoy private qn chats and turn publics back on eventually. But I can enjoy myself playing games and reading the boards whether or not I feel like having publics on.

Post 6 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 18:48:34

I have only been on here a couple of months, but have never talked by way of public quick notes, it's just not my cup of tea. But, I've enjoyed the zone, and certainly hope it continues.

Post 7 by Godzilla-On-Toast (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 18:55:01

Yeah, I turned off all Quicknotes because usually I'm more into the boards than any live chat. Not much of a chatterer and I just found them distracting, especially when somebody who totally had nothing in common with me would private QN me, probably because they felt obligated to say Hi just because I logged in. I discovered that in live chats, a lot of people expected me to carry the conversation and I just can't do that.

Post 8 by sparkie (the hilljack) on Sunday, 02-Jul-2006 20:01:01

I 100 percent agree with Becky. I mainly play games and check bords myself.

As for me I enjoy my self here on the Zone! I enjoy reading the quick notes and when I have something to say I'll say it! When it's drama I've learned to stay out of it!

Post 10 by CrazyMusician (If I don't post to your topic, it's cuz I don't give a rip about it!) on Monday, 03-Jul-2006 11:53:29

hey,
a tad dramatic, don't ya think, Iternity? Just because people aren't posting so much? say whaaaaaat?

Post 11 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Monday, 03-Jul-2006 13:25:28

Yeah, I agree. Just because people aren't sending QN's, doesn't mean that they don't enjoy themselves here. I for one, have stopped talking via public QN's, just because I find that the topic of conversation usually isn't of any interest. Either that, or it's filled with drama, and quite frankly, I get sick of reading that all the time. I mean, when I log in, I'll say hello to whoever is on, and ask how they're doing, etc., but that's about it. If I talk to someone, it's usually through private qN's, and that's not that often either. But, just because I'm not getting myself involved with the zone drama, doesn't mean that I don't enjoy what I do here. I come on everyday to play anagrams, and check out the boards. Sometimes, I'll play other games too, but once I'm done, I leave.

Post 12 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2006 9:13:52

i guess so, but i really love this site and in my opinion i wwould hate it to cclose.

i just don't feel this comunity is what it used to be

Post 13 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2006 11:23:06

It may not be what it used to be, but I don't think it's going anywhere, either.

Post 14 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2006 11:48:48

I think all sites like this evolve. People leave for various reasons, maybe they get bored of the games, maybe they have all their valued contacts on msn so have no need to come on here. And some people just have things happening in the real world and so a site like this is not all important to them, maybe just a time killer when they're bored. But where people leave new ones will sign up.

It's important to remember that this is actually a website and in reality is somewhere where people come when they generally don't have anything else to do. If a site like this becomes so important that you become worried it might not be here somewhere down the track, then maybe it would be a good idea to take some time away and assess your priorities in the real world.

Post 15 by jaguar (Addicted to the Zone) on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2006 14:10:14

I think it's a wonderful community. I mainly play the games and read the boards and avoid the drama by not turning on quicknotes, g. I think all communities have high and low points, but usually when I log in there are quite a few users so really, nothing to worry about.

Post 16 by rdfreak (THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE-BLUE KANGA-KICKIN AUSIE) on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2006 22:14:22

I use to come on here every day. now it's not as much and when I do come on, i rarely talk by quicknotes but I certainly haven't noticed any dropping in membership. as Chris N says, quite the opposite. people aren't always going to talk on quick notes as there are other interesting games and things to read and do on here! :)

Post 17 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 05-Jul-2006 9:49:07

gem, what do you mean it is not going anywhere?

Post 18 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Wednesday, 05-Jul-2006 11:00:15

I just meant that it's not going to disappear. As other users said, there are plenty of members who are always signing up. It's nothing to worry about. Why are you so concerned with this anyway? I mean, yes, the site may not be what it used to be, but what can you do? stuff like that happens. I only come on to play the games and post to the boards. I keep QN's turned off. No big deal. But, there is no need for you to worry about the site going anywhere. It's not going to disappear.

Post 19 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Wednesday, 05-Jul-2006 13:09:11

personally I think that people have left because there's nothing here for them, because there are more things out in the real world to be concerned with. I used to come on here daily, inteligent conversation was on the agenda, but now the conversation is, shall we say, less inteligent. There's only so many times we can talk about who has what messaging programme, who is sleeping with who, and as for virtual food fights, well that's just juvanile. Apart from that I think it's nice to be able to have a conversation that doesn't contain several instances of the f word and that's just not possible on here any more.

Post 20 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 05-Jul-2006 22:21:34

hahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha stargaye! People don't talk because they know you'll say something really fuckin stupid to go along with the convwersation. Face the facts, People don't like you and so they avoid talking while you're on. As for your constant posting on the boards, why not get a life and take up somethin else? I heard swallowing razor blades is quite fun, wanna try that? well, see you around!

Post 21 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Wednesday, 05-Jul-2006 22:23:56

lmfao!

Post 22 by Selena Fan (Account disabled) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 3:12:45

I don't think the Zone will disappear either! I just enjoy chatting with nice people via private quick notes!

Post 23 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 13:33:13

Wow, Garret, that was a little harsh, don't ya think? I do agree with what sugarBaby said. The conversation just isn't all that great, but like I said before, I do like playing anagrams, and checking out the boards.

Post 24 by lalady (This site is so "educational") on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 14:06:21

I've only been a member for a couple of months. So I don't have any past history to compare this site to. As for myself, I choose not to participate with public notes turned on for obvious reasons. However, I enjoy playing some of the games and exchanging short qn's. I don't really enjoy knowing about others' drama nor do I choose to share mine.

Post 25 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 14:12:42

I basically agree with SugarBaby on this one. Virtual food fights, swimming pools, fights of any kind, water fights, feeding (you start getting the picture) just doesn't keep me interested enough to bother logging in and unless site improves dramatically I certainly won't renew my premium membership. But if that's what most current people on here enjoy that's totally cool with me, just means I'm not attracted to the site. It feels like the average age, at lesat maturity wise, has fallen from may be 19 to about 8. If you go by the average qn conversations you see when you log in. There are a few exceptions of course, people who are funny or witty or smart, sarcastic or otherwise entertaining but over-all the conversations are just incredibly boring, speaking for myself.
That being said, no offense meant to anyone, just that the taste of people chatting on here these days generally doesn't match mine, by all means, have fun and all the food fights you want <grin>.
cheers
-B

Post 26 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 15:07:46

yes, the virtual fights aren't too fun, though when they get heated, and it's zoner against zoner, I can watch that all day, and join in! Oh, and killing people with the randomizer's fun too. otherwise, i try and be my sarcastic, yet funny self most of the time. as for drama? let me see it! I wanna make fun of you and your shitty problems!

Post 27 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 15:14:21

I have got pubblick quicknotes turned off and i don't speak much privately either but i still enjoy the boards and part of the grafity and the games. I don't think the zone is going to close because it keeps improoving and also i was glad to see the terms of service so my advice is that people should be careful how to call and speak to others because they might be in trouble.

Just to backup what i said.
Harassment of other users is not tollerated. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: ]
repeatedly annoying other users after they have requested such annoyance to sease ]
Threats against other users ]
The spreading of personal information ]
And others but you people suppose to know them if they agreed to them.

Post 29 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 17:15:26

I totally agree with ya there Gareet.

Virtual Food Fights: Not fun, so I agree with those who opposed that ordeal.

The Randomizer: That is some bad ass shit there. I absolutely love all the randomizer features, especailly now that we got four to mess around with. Which I may remind of.

As for the Drama: I absolutely love the drama that goes on, so bring it on. It gives this site some damn good spice in which it needs otherwise it'd be as boring as watching the grass grow in my backyard.

Post 30 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 17:18:57

Another thing if any of happen to dislike any of this why don't you take your happy asses in to your ignore settings and use the ignore button and quit bitching about everything, alright I'm done for now with this.

Post 31 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 17:23:01

agreed 100% chris! absolutely right on the money with that!
so for those of you (most) that didn't understand that. If you don't like the shit that's said, or you're a good person and don't want to waste valuable CL or admin time. Shut the fuck up and put the piss offers on ignore!
thank you, now back to your shitty day!

Post 32 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 19:15:31

I realize my adding to this topic is going to bring it to the top again, which is counteractive to what I want, but could we all please stop feeding iternity's ego or paranoia or whatever prompted him to create this post in the first place by not responding anymore? Please, please, please?

Post 33 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 19:37:38

yes there is, it's to show what a fuckin moron stargaye is!

Post 34 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 19:41:32

Yeah really, if people like him worry to much about the wellfair of this then I guess they haven't got much of a life. Me, I personally could careless if this site vanished in thin air cuz I know I have things to tend to and/or take care in real life. Although this site is cool to hang out on I do admit that.

Post 35 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Thursday, 06-Jul-2006 20:25:58

I love this place, I really do, and I want it to stay up, and again, it's not in any danger of going down!

Post 36 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 07-Jul-2006 10:55:15

Okay, once again, I will say that I agree that this topic is pretty much a waste. As far as any of us can tell, the site isn't going anywhere. and, to Garret and Chris, jeez, come on. You guys can be so harsh at times. No one here is "bitching" about anything. we're all just simply stating our opinions on a subject that was brought up. There's no need to tell the "stupid fuckers" to ignore everything, and to stop "bitching about it all.
